Alasdair Gray published his first novel, ‘Lanark: A Life in Four Books’, in 1981. In February 1981, he produced a set of six ‘Lanark’ lithographs, comprising; ‘Cover’, ‘Title Page’, and four frontispieces ('Book 1/2/3/4'). A complete set has not been seen at auction before, and a further full version of this set from the same edition is held in the Tate Gallery, London.
Inscriptions: Handwritten Birthday dedication from Alasdair Gray to Bethsy Gray, his partner between 1981 and 1989.
