JOHN HENNING (SCOTTISH, 1771-1851) - A PLASTER MEDALLION SELF-PORTRAIT
In relief, bust length and right facing, housed in an ebonised circular frame measuring approx. 13.5cm in diameter, together with a copy of John Henning 1771-1851: "...a very ingenious Modeller" by John Malden (Renfrew District Council Museum & Art Galleries, 1977) and a series of B.M. Replica miniature panels from the Parthenon frieze, based on those famously modelled by Henning

More Information

There is a hairline crack running vertically through the plaster medallion behind the head. A possible further hairline crack over the neck (this is very faint and may be only a surface scratch). There is wear to the portrait head in the raised areas, particularly the locks of hair above the ear and the brow. Light nicks to the surface in places. Frame is generally good, showing light wear commensurate with age.
