Note: Moynan was the foremost chronicler of Dublin city and county during this period, and specialised in painting children. He exhibited a picture entitled 'Early Trials' at the RHA in 1896, possibly the present oil. Other similar subjects include 'Only a Poor little Crossing Sweeper' and 'Only a Waif! Cold and Wearied!', both exhibited 1894.
Good original condition. 3cm diagonal tear to mid right. Faint stretcher marks. Some faint flaring under UV
