AN 1827 PATTERN ROYAL NAVAL OFFICER'S SWORD
The pipe-backed blade with spear point, measuring approx. 79cm in length, etched with fouled anchor and royal coat of arms above further decorative devices, housed in a black leather scabbard, the grip of white shagreen capped with a lion's head pommel

More Information

The scabbard is heavily worn, with much deterioration to the finish of the leather. There is one significantly gouged area. The hilt sits firmly on the blade, with no play to any element. The blade is tarnished throughout, with a substantially rusted section spanning the upper half. There are multiple nicks to the cutting edge towards the tip. The blade appears slightly bent. Guard and grip and well patinated/tarnished, with minor knocks consistent with use. Bullion cord is frayed/torn.

Blade measures approx. 34mm in width over the ricasso.
