A VICTORIAN NEEDLEWORK SAMPLER
Dated 1885, unmounted and unusually well-preserved, the field embroidered with floral devices, peacocks and deer within a wooded landscape in vivid colour, measuring approx. 62cm x 42cm overall
We believe this is an authentic Victorian piece. The sampler looks never to have been mounted/framed, hence is so well preserved. Canvas is a little discoloured round edges. There are breaks to the border pattern in three of the four corners, indicating possible losses of thread. Minor marks here and there but otherwise in very good condition. Colours are vivid and consistent.
