Anda Paterson is a post war and contemporary painter, and she studied at The Glasgow School of Art. She founded the Glasgow Group in the 1950s with her partner, James Spence, who was also a prolific Scottish artist; they worked to promote contemporary art in Scotland. Paterson is well known for her figurative works, which often make social comment as well as powerful depictions of the human condition.
