A silver and gilt presentation curling medal, by David McGregor & Co, Edinburgh 1899, cast with two crossed curling brushes, with a stylised C, the outer ring cast with scrolling thistles, the centre engraved with an armorial crest, the gilt ring embossed 'PRESENTED BY SIR WM OGILVY DALGLEISH BART TO CHAMPION', the reverse of the C engraved 'JOHN TAIT CUP WINNER 1899', the reverse of the body engraved with a building, 100gms, together with a twin handled trophy cup, by Deakin & Francis, Birmingham 1922, engraved 'ERROL CURLING CLUB PATRONS CHALLENGE CUP PRESENTED BY BR.GEN J.D.HERIOT MAITLAND E.M.G.D.S.O, 25TH DEC. 1923', with previous winners engraved to the reverse, 308gms, together 408gms / 13.11toz (2)
Errol Curling Club was established in 1872. William Ogilvy Dalgleish was a prominent Scottish businessman and philanthropist, as well as a principle benefactor to various colleges in Dundee including the Medical School and Technical College.
