AN EARLY 20TH CENTURY GERMAN SILVER SINGING BIRD BOX
probably by Karl Griesbaum, crescent and halberd mark and 800, the hinged oval lid decorated with scrolling mask decoration, opening to reveal a feathered singing bird automaton, with a bird-shaped release, the casket form body cast with images of pairs of birds, masks and dolphins amongst scrollwork, supported by four outswept caryatid feet, the base  with an image of a bird amongst scrollwork, 10 x 6.5 x 5.5cm
