A JAPANESE WAKIZASHI SWORD
The fuchi well modelled with a depiction of a Samurai, the grip of pale panelled ray skin, the tang unmarked, housed in a black lacquered saya; blade measures approx. 46cm in length, the whole approx. 64cm (sheathed)
Wakizashi lacks many elements. The tsuka sits loose upon the tang, lacking mekugi. The two panels of ray skin both have extensive losses. One panel has impressively sized nodes towards the top; the other is potentially formed of two smaller pieces. Some tarnish to blade, with one notable nick to cutting edge. Lighter impact damage towards habaki. Tang with spots of light rust and generally deeply tarnished. Saya with multiple knocks and losses to the lacquer. General surface dirt and apparent sticker residue.
