TWO ENAMELLED POWDER COMPACTS
a deep orange guilloche enamelled silver square compact with triangular enamel and marcasite motif, made by Henry Clifford Davies with Birmingham hallmarks for 1949. Dimensions 7cm x 7cm. Together with a red round powder compact diameter 5cm, with import marks for London 1928, makers mark P.H.Vogel & Co, with marcasite flower basket motif, and gilded interior weight 39.1gms

More Information

Square; Enamel;- very light couple of scratches to the surface, few pin holes and dips in the enamel overall, probably because red enamel has a horrible habit of burning out, so they would have kept the firings to an absolute minimum. Orange part of the decal, has a scratch, this is from setting the marcasites, not full thickness. Back all good, slight powder residue to the interior, one black mark tothe edge of the mirror otherwise good.
Round one deep flake missing from the back edge, please see photo 5 & 8, slight scratches to the base, otherwise ok. Slight powder residue to the interior, mirror good, discolouration to the edge is polish residue & will clean up. *Missed this; there is a flake missing from the hinge edge, its currently full of metal polish, photo attached
