£70
A WW2 glider/aircraft escape axe, the head with Broad Arrow stamp, the rubber handle with label affixed reading "Found at Diersfordter Wald Wood [...] Germany. Battlefield tour, Mike Ross, March 1975, 30th Anniversary Battle Rhine Crossing (Military Marine)"; together with a heavy copper Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve wall plaque, marked "Glasgow" verso, measuring approx. 17cm in diameter; and a solid brass bust Robert Burns, approx. 18cm in height (3)
The glider axe is in fairly rough overall condition. The label affixed suggests it is a battlefield find and the condition is certainly consistent with this. The head is generally rusted, with pitting and nicks to the sharpened edges. Handle with surface dirt, some cracking and nicks to the rubber grip. Handwritten label is glued to surface.
RNVR copper plaque is in good condition, aside for some build up of residue between the coils of rope and surrounding the letters
Burns bust is also in good general condition, with some scuffs and nicks to the base.
