A WW1 DISTINGUISHED SERVICE ORDER (D.S.O.) MEDAL GROUP OF SIX AWARDED TO COLONEL CHARLES EDMONSTOUNE-CRANSTOUN OF COREHOUSE
Comprising George V Distinguished Service Order, 1914-15 Star (Major C.J.E. Cranstoun, Lanark Yeo.), British War Medal (Lt. Col. C.J.E. Cranstoun), Victory Medal with Oak Leaf (Lt. Col. C.J.E. Cranstoun), George V Territorial Decoration (in silver, hallmarked for Sebastian Henry Garrard, London, 1919) and French Croix de Guerre avec Palme, together with corresponding miniatures and ribbon bar (both lacking Croix de Guerre)

Charles Joseph Edmonstoune-Cranstoun of Corehouse (1877-1950) served with the Lanarkshire Yeomanry during the First World War and was twice mentioned in despatches. He later gained the rank of Colonel in the 6th Battalion Gordon Highlanders. Edmonstoune-Cranstoun was awarded Knight, Order of St. Gregory the Great (K.S.G.) and held the Vice-Lord-Lieutenancy for Lanarkshire from 1938 until his death in 1950. He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1945 - see following lot.

Included with the lot is a Gordon Highlanders belt buckle, a set of uniform buttons by Firmin & Sons of London and a small white metal "Bydand" plaque, presumably intended as a walking stick mount.
