TWO EDWARDIAN 12ct GOLD-MOUNTED BAMBOO PARASOLS BY BRIGG OF LONDON
The bands by Charles Cooke, London, 1907 and 1910, one being engraved with initials "L-O-E" (2)
Plastic handles are fairly heavily scratched through use. The chunkier handle has what is either deep scratching or a white paint mark on one side. Gold band beneath the thinner handle is well-worn with hallmarks only partially distinguishable. Both shafts have chips to their finish, particularly where the metal canopy ends are gathered. The shaft of the thinner handled umbrella shows evidence of white mould, having likely been stored in a damp condition. Canopy of chunkier handled example is badly damaged, with tears and losses. Canopy of the other is in better condition, though is definitely liable to tearing if opened to its full extent. Both tips are rusted at their extremities.
