A FLINTLOCK PISTOL BY LACY & Co., LONDON, CIRCA-1800
The barrel with Birmingham proof marks, maker's name engraved to lock plate, fitted with a swivel ramrod and steel belt hook; barrel measures approx. 15cm in length; the whole approx. 29cm
Holds half and full-cock well. Trigger with a little play at all stages. Hammer releases with a firm action. Frizzen is held securely by its spring and moves between positions with a clean snap. Jaw screw is resistant to being turned, though there is a modern flint fitted - so presumably it was successfully adjusted relatively recently. Ramrod is held fairly loosely in its housing.
In good overall condition. All metal components are tarnished, with spots of surface rust and general pitting to barrel, lock-plate, hammer, frizzen and belt hook. Stock is well patinated and knocked/scratched in many areas, particularly to butt. Heaviest patination around pan.
