More Information

Re-backed. Covers badly damaged to corners with losses to the leather. Distinct colour difference between covers and spine. Inside covers lacking endpapers. As such, the glued leather has discoloured the first and final pages. Inscribed "Henry Hebbard, London" to free endpaper, which is torn at hinge. Text commences with "An Abstract of the General Contents". A substantial loss to bottom of main contents page. A later contents page also torn and hanging mostly loose. The following page lacking. One Chapter 4 contents page possibly lacking, as catchword does not match. Likewise Chapter XXI contents. Losses to pages 13 and 15. A small loss to page 39. Missing pages 67 to 70. Tears effecting bottom edges of pages 107 and 109. A significant dark sooty mark to page 128. Some splitting to text block midway. Significant losses to pages 185 and 263. Small loss to page 289. The aforementioned losses aside, text is complete, numerically correct and with catchwords matching. Occasional pencil annotations. Ends with advertisement for "Books Printed for and Sold by Matthew Gillyflower". Final page torn at hinge. Pages throughout are somewhat browned, with wear to edges and occasional dog-earing. Overall, text block is bound securely.
