A 17th/18th CENTURY NEEDLEWORK PANEL
Depicting a robed figure within an abundant landscape, with a flautist or trumpeter placed lower left and diverse creatures distributed throughout, to include a cow, snail, caterpillar, leaping hare, soaring birds, dog on hind legs etc., a church situated on a hill top left, bathed in the glow of a sun emerging from clouds, housed in a period carved and gilt frame featuring cherubic masks amidst scrolls, the panel measuring approx. 33cm x 20cm, the whole approx. 45cm x 34cm

Fabric is in fair overall condition. Multiple small holes. Loose/unravelling threads in places. Generally faded.
Evidence of historic worm to the frame. Chips and small losses, most noticeably to beading on righthand edge. A substantial loss to the bottom right corner, with the beaded edge hanging loose in this area as a result. Wear and losses to gilding. Lower left scroll is cracked (with a possible historic repair). Losses/old repair to beading at bottom left corner. Later tape repair/reinforcement to the reverse.
