Note: Jane was the eldest daughter of Alexander Nasmyth.
The Wallace Oak was reputedly seeded circa 1100, in the Renfrewshire village of Elderslie where iconic Scot Sir William Wallace was born. He and his followers reputedly sheltered from English soldiers in its branches. The tree fell in a storm in 1856.
