A CONTINENTAL SIX-SHOT 7mm PINFIRE REVOLVER
Engraved throughout with foliate and knotwork devices, with chequered grip, housed in its original fitted case, lined in blue baize, the lid interior with plaque affixed reading "Capitaine Jean Renard, En reconnaissance du service meritoire, Septembre 1877", the revolver measuring approx. 19cm in overall length
Overall condition of the pistol is very good. All mechanical elements function cleanly, with a smooth action. There is some pitting (or possible rough casting) to the metal of the grip, particularly surrounding the screw behind the trigger. Some pitting to trigger also. Minor tarnish to other areas. Accessories in similarly good overall order. Baize case lining is a little tatty, worn through in places. Knocks and scrapes to the exterior. There is separation between the top and side lid panels in one corner. Two nails/screws protrude through the wood on either side of the lock. These have caused some discolouration and splitting to the surrounding area.
