A ship's bell, removed from M.V. Duke of Normandy II, measuring approx. 21cm in height and 21cm in diameter
M.V. Duke of Normandy II - Built in 1934 for the German Customs Service and originally named 'Ems', the vessel was used as transport to guard ships moored off the German coast prior to being requisitioned by the navy at the outbreak of the Second World War. Having been used in German-occupied Jersey during the final years of the conflict, the Ems was seized by the British authorities on the cessation of hostilities in 1945. Many years later, she was sold into private hands, with spells on the Caledonian and Crinan Canals.
