A 19th CENTURY CONTINENTAL CYLINDER MUSIC BOX
The hinged lid crossbanded in rosewood and with floral marquetry inlay featuring a tambourine and trumpets, the mechanism (A/F) comprised of six bells and an approx. 13" cylinder, the whole measuring approx. 30cm high x 66cm wide x 38cm deep
General condition is poor. The mechanism can be wound and will run, though the speed is very slow and inconsistent and the sounds produced are far from melodious. Many tooth tips are lacking. When run, the bells have not struck. Mechanism is generally very dirty. Case is in similarly poor order, with veneer losses, water spotting and split joints. Considerable restoration will be required for this to function as designed.
