A FRENCH CAMEO HAIR COMB
with the French 1798-1809 silver hallmarks of the Cockerel, makers mark JA. Three cameos are set to the chased ground, two with cherubs the middle one with Psyche nursing Cupid, each set in black enamelled frames to the tortoiseshell comb. Dimensions 11.5cm x 8cm, weight 45gms
slight lifting of the sandwich layers of metal, tortoiseshell & pitch or other sticky substance that holds it all together... a small rivet to that corner would sort it out as it pushes back together fine, overall dusty. Central cameo has a bit of damage, whether this was prior to manufacture I can't tell as it looks like the voids were filled with a black substance to disguise this? One small chip to the tines of the comb.
