A Victorian memorial hair art brooch. The scrolling yellow metal pendant brooch, has a locket to both sides. The front holds a mourning panel made from human hair coiled and cut into a decorative spray of foliage, clasped with a pearl and gold wire work band. The back of the brooch is inscribed "A.H. Died 26th April 1856, aged 36" this brooch would have been commissioned by their loved ones to commemorate the life of the dear departed. Using a lock of the deceased own hair, to keep their memory close to their hearts.. The locket at the back is empty to be filled with your own keepsake.
