A 1930s mermaid dress embroidered with sequins in fish scale pattern with matching bolero and belt
bust approx. 40cm, waist approx. 35cm, length from shoulder to bottom of back panel fishtail approx. 180cm (laid flat)
Dress: One of the shoulder seams is ripped. Some of the hook and eyes on the side closure are loose, a few are missing, and there are some small rips around these areas. It looks like beneath the side opening has been slightly torn and repaired. There are rips down both sides (on both the front and back panel) around the waist/hip area. There is a rip to the seam of the flare point on the front. At the top of the point it looks like sequins have been resewn. There are repairs to the back panel flare point and some holes on the outer mesh. There are a few small holes and a rip to the bottom of the front of the fishtail. On the back of the fishtail there are some areas where the mesh has ripped but the sequins are mostly intact. There is mesh patchworked to the underside of the fishtail. Bolero: There are rips around the armhole seams and in the underarm area, and shoulder area. Belt: Loss of sequins to the inside of the belt however outside is mostly intact with a few loose threads. The belt has hook and eye closure.
