All clothbound volumes are housed in plastic protective jackets, which could be easily removed if desired.
Shackleton - Heart of the Antarctic - Fading to spines. Uneven fading to lower cover of volume I. Wear to silvered cover illustrations. Foyles bookshop sticker inside front covers. All plates present and in good condition. Variable foxing to pages (particularly to edges). Otherwise crisp. Four folding maps/charts in pocket at rear of volume II. Very minor damage to page edges occasionally.
Scott - Voyage of the Discovery - Spines faded and bumped to head and foot. A tear to volume II along hinge approx. 2cm in length. Wear to gilt roundels on upper covers. Gift inscription to Alfred Winnington Ingram to front endpaper of both volumes. Volume I with endpapers split at hinges. Tears to final endpaper of volume II. Variable foxing throughout both volumes. Bookseller's stickers inside lower covers. Both folding maps present in pockets. All plates present.
Scott's Last Expedition - Volume I is fourth edition; volume II is third edition. Spines worn and faded. Marks, bumps, bubbling and scoring to covers. Bindings slack with some splitting to text block. Vol I with ownership inscription roughly scrubbed out. Variable foxing throughout (volume II generally with more severe foxing). Some warping to pages. All plates present. Folding maps present, though foxed, with the larger examples torn. Occasional minor damage to page edges.
Ponting - The Great White South - spine faded, marked and bumped to head and foot. Ownership inscription to endpaper. Endpapers discoloured. Text block split, with some plates loosening/loose altogether. Plate 223 loosening and creased across the image. Pages otherwise in nice, crisp condition.
Shackleton - South - Spine faded and bumped to head and foot. Corners bumped and fraying. First free endpaper clipped. Pages much browned throughout. Plates yellowed round borders. Splitting to endpapers at hinges. All plates present. Folding map at end of text present, though torn.
Arctic Expeditions - very worn overall. Spine much deteriorated with old tape reinforcing the hinges. Pages fine for the most part, though marked and nicked throughout.
Ponting exhibition catalogue - staples rusted and covers marked. Pages generally clean.
